I'm actually getting far enough to begin thinking about the interior of my 67. What paint should I use on the glovebox door, and speaker grill?
Thanks! Tim
I'm not sure if it's the same for the door and grill but I used the Corvette America interior dye to paint my center console and it matched perfectly. I used the satin clear top coat to finish it. I think for black a lot of guys use something else but you can search the forum to find previous discussions and recommendations.
Based on previous threads, I bought a can of Dupli-Color Low Gloss Black Engine Enamel DE-1634. Have not used it yet so can't report on the appearance after use.
The pic above is the paint usually used for under the hood. There are different opinions on everything it seems. The paint I mentioned is not the same as the under-hood but I doubt they would be far enough different to bother most people. I didn't record which thread that info came from, it was something on here in the past and the votes at that time were for this one.
Here is my experience with the Dupli Color: I first cleaned thoroughly with acetone, then sprayed. It did not stick, like painiting chrome. I cleaned again and primed. Let it dry thoroughtly then painted again. Overall itwas pretty good, but some areas did not want to take paint. Fortunately I had the whole can to work with. I spot sandedthe bad spots, primed with q tip and resprayed. I actually came out pretty good. Certainly better that the rest of the door which has some corrosion.
I think the slight gloss is pretty accurate. Thanks to all.
