Default Plug Required?

Those of you who have installed a VA heat/ac unit probably had to pull up the carpet and underlayment on the passengers side so as to install the evaporator. On mine that required removing the sil plate. When I did that I found this hole that does pass straight through to the underside of the body. Should this hole be plugged?
Thanks.

You need some sill plugs.

after reading his post it doesn’t say if it’s a coupe or convertible. But I am not seeing a body mount bolt. So I would say he has a coupe.

That would be unusual for that bolt to be missing, and it would not come out by itself.

Does it appear to anyone else that there is paint under where the body fastener bolt washer should be, possibly indicating that this bolt was missing when the car was last painted?

The pic angle is tough to determine if its missing or broken off?

So I need to find the right length bolt(s) (I have not pulled the drivers side plate to check but I will), nut and washer and install them. Stainless OK, not a judged ride.

I think that mount has a caged nut in the frame mount. Check for threads in the hole. Without the bolt, you may be missing some shims too.

I'll check for that as well. Guessing you crawl under and with a flashlight, check the shim status. If missing, shim just enough to close the gap?

I don't know if you can see them easily. My car has side exhaust and you can't see the mount without removing stuff. If your door gaps are good, then just add shims to fill the gap.
You can adjust the door gap by adding or removing shims.

I think it's the bad lighting in the OP original picture...kind of an optical illusion. The shadowing is throwing everything off. I see a bolt head inside the hole. A clearer picture without shadows would be most helpful. And, wouldn't the sill plugs work on this hole??

In the first (blue car) picture I think I see diamond decking on the floor through the bolt hole.

What you are seeing Leif is the decking of my 4-post lift she is on. No bolt there and you can see straight through the hole to the ground. Doesn't sound like you can access that area to install shims without possibly having to lift the body on that side (under car exhaust on mine). If that's the case, plugs are sounding real good to me. My door gaps are good.

I thought I saw a bolt at first but I believe it’s all shadow and optical illusion. C2Dude, I don’t think you will be able to see it from under the car. Here is a pic of my bolt and a few pics of the shim stack underneath. I had to use my scope camera to see the stack.

I stand corrected. Here is a shot looking up between the frame and the rocker panel.
