i'm shipping my seat frames and on the outside chance they're lost i'm wondering what it'd cost to replace them for insurance purposes. prices on the inner webs are all over the map. thanks.
bluestripe, the frames are stripped, blasted, repainted and in the box ready to be shipped. at the last minute i started to think about what i'd do if ups lost them and what it'd cost to replace them. i'm having serious sticker shock right now. glad i asked though, i think i'll spring for the xtra insurance.
Keep in mind. Just because you insure something for $5000 doesnt mean they would pay you that much. If there is a claim the carriers insurance will do a market research and pay you the average.
With the implimentation of online tracking, packages hardy ever get lost even by the flakes at the post office IMHO.
I self insure and have never had a loss. The hassle of replacing rare parts is much more of a concern for me
and can't be insured against.
a place i bet you're familiar with, pensacola. way to far from TN to be practical to go there for the seat covers.
Yes, spent lots of time there in the 70's & 80's. Was even President of the MSCC back then as well. Still own a home there and visit a few times a year now. We called it "LA" back then too... 😀
You're about 8 hours from Pigeon Forge via Montgomery, Chattanooga and Knoxville. We meet friends from Pensacola there most years in March for the Corvette Expo. I made an appointment with Al Knoch a few years back to have the seats of my '63 covered there by his folks. They did a terrific job and I don't know anyone in my area (eastern NC) that could have done them as well.
