Looking for ideas on integrating a check engine light in my C2 cluster. Either repurposing an existing light (maybe the headlamp fully open light? ) or add something.
Patrick,
I can't answer your question regarding a "check engine" light....but you do have a OBDII port with your harness, right? I mounted mine on the bottom of the dash beside the headlight switch. If you don't include a "check engine" light, you can always get a cheap scanner and check on the engine status/diagnostics periodically.
This one provides data directly to a "smart phone"....

Morning John, yep, I bought one of those Bluetooth devices. Used it when I fired the engine up the first time to monitor rpm and coolant temp. Pretty cool! It will be nice to be able to check for fault codes, but I'm looking for a more instant "check engine light" solution. Something to alert me of something is wrong.
I just made a bracket that hangs under the dash panel to hold the OBD port and mounted an LED in that bracket to the side of the port. I thought about the same thing you did, somehow integrating it into the cluster, but it's another thing I will get around to in retirement .

What about placing a phone mount and running the app while driving? Might make for a better way to monitor than a regular check engine warning.
I'll certainly have a phone on occasion, but really want a dedicated light. I'm known for not paying attention to an oil pressure gauge when losing oil pressure. Hoping a big red light gets my attention
Like the idea of a light next to the diagnostic connector. Let me see if that will be high enough to grab my attention.
