Default Engine stamp help

Have a barnfing, dual quad, 4 speed 69 vette. Not a numbers matching engine, mmEngine has been decked. The engine stamp plate reveals Fo2333f? Using a bit if acid to raise the numbers shaved off. Help is appreciated in adnance.plan. plan was to buy it, fix it drive it for a season and sell it.theres much more to the story but need figure this out first

Welcome to the forum! Not sure what you’re asking, but your numbers are the assembly date and suffix. It’s missing the second letter of the suffix. Probably an over the counter block. You need the block casting number and date codes, on the top right rear and top rear left side of the block.

The "F" indicates a Flint block from 1966 and older. In 1967 the "F" changed to a "V" and continued this way.

The 02 after the "F" should be the month = February. the "33" should be the day of the month.........and no month has 33 days. The "3f" should both be LETTERS and should indicate specifics about the assembled engine. An example would be "HE", which could indicate a base 250 HP engine with hydraulic cam and manual transmission. But there are many many SUFFIXs for these engines, so you really need to check closely to see what is actually stamped.

I cannot read much from the pad picture. But the date for "day of the month" appears to be 23 vs earlier 33 mentioned.

Engine casting number appears to be from 283 engine, from early to mid 60's. You can measure block bore to see if 283 or something else.......as block may have been used for many various engines.

http://www.castingnumbers.info/site/detail/76/3849852

It is not a Corvette engine, based on the casting number.

Specifically, what sort of acid did you use to raise the numbers.

Sulfuric acid from home depo. Look in the drain cleaner section. Most drain cleaners use sulfuric acid. I would look at what you use at home to clean the bathroom drains
