I dont know if adding air will increase the value, but given your location says nevada, it would absolutely make the car much easier to sell if you decided to sell.
I think AC and value is very dependent on location. i debated adding vintage air to my 66, but being in PA there are so many good driving days where i dont need AC that it just didnt make sense to me economically. I'm sure in the south thats a different story.
you can never go wrong with AC in a classic car. all you have to endure is the initial outlay of $$.
you will have the florida and arizona buyers salivating when your car goes up for sale. and that is a group of retirees that have the money.
it would be a consideration if you have a 98 point car.. but how many of these are left to buy, and at a cost way beyond the means of most?
i can't think of a case where you wouldn't get your money back at sale time. the super purist might say no, but you are adding a whole bunch of buyers by installing AC.
screw the judging concern, the overwhelming number of cars are not judged anyway.
I have had my '66 for 41 years and live in Maryland. Without AC, most of the driving I do in the summer (except for a few shows) is confined to early morning or late evening due to the heat. Having talked to a few folks about driving my car a lot more, they all recommended AC. Just about everyone has Vintage Air.
