I believe it’s the camera angle that gives the embossed look. Looking straight down it doesn’t have that effect
Yeah, angle and lighting. We see this a lot in astrophotography. Shots of the moon's surface will look like the craters are convex rather than concave. If you rotate the photo 180 degrees the effect will often go away.
As for this stamp, I am no expert, but I don't see any broach marks. And the generalized pitting looks weird. It also looks like the leading F and I are slightly misaligned from the other digits in the engine build stamp.
