My 1961 Headlight Bezels do not seem to line up nicely with the top fender spears - one in particular seems to be far too high as noted in the picture. Note that the actual bezel itself is high compared to the fender top - not just the chrome spear mounted on top of the bezel. To the best of my inspection and observation, the fenders are "no hit / no repair" original as are the headlight buckets. I see no way to adjust the bucket alignment as there are fixed aliment pegs that fit tightly into alignment holes in the fenders I tried to reverse the left and right bezels and that did not remedy alignment.
Was this a manufacturing tolerance issue common to C1's in general - non-precise aliment of the bezels - or mine are the exception to better tolerances
on most C1's?
How are your fabrication/body working skills? I would get an extra headlight ring and modify it to fit. It being made of pot metal makes it a crap shoot on how to do it. But I would cut the top **** off in a V pattern almost to the front, and remove some from each side to lower it until it lines up slightly lower than the fender. Then I would reattach it with 3 or so strips of fiberglass mat on the underside, and 1 on the top. Finish bodywork and paint. If it doesn't work, you can always go back to the ill fitting one.
