I have a 1958 Corvette with the Signet Red interior. I need to paint/repaint some interior panels and would like to do them with original acrylic lacquer to match my existing interior. I don't have enough of my original can to do the job and they don't sell lacquer in California anymore. I ordered a spray can of 58 Red "lacquer" from Corvette Central but it doesn't match. I will be travelling soon to Las Vegas, southern Utah and southern Colorado. Does anyone out there use or know of a paint supplier in those states that will mix me a quart of lacquer? I would prefer that to having someone paint it here with urethane or modern base coat/clear coat which is usually too glossy vs. original lacquer. Thanks for your help. Chuck
Talk with a good painter in your area. Single stage urethane can be made to "look" like a lacquer finished when mixed and applied with that approach in mind. Especially on small sections of interior parts.
Also I believe Hibernia Auto Restorers can mix lacquer. Getting it to you in CA is a different story,,,,,,,,,,,
Thanks Herm. That is actually what I started using. It works great, BUT the color doesn't match. Working with CC now to find out how to get proper match, but so far I am not optimistic. Still waiting for reply from CC supplier (Finish Master). Chuck

The Restoration Shop in San Diego website says they have it but will only deliver lacquer outside of CA. https://www.autocolorlibrary.com/pro...39435797266467
The color charts say Chevrolet Rio Red is the same color as Corvette Signet Red.
The price is steep at $257.99 for a quart.
Any spray can you buy will most likely not match as you have found out. Signet Red (tomato soup red as I've heard it refered to as....) can be a difficult match. My interior was Signet Red and we had to do some touchup in a couple places and the painter had to do several sprayouts to get it just right.
If you can find a place to get the lacquer, you may have to send them a painted part you want to match so they can do their mixing magic.

Tom, I am thinking I will just have to take it to someone and have them match it to one of my panels. The kick panel comes out fairly easy..
