Default frame numbers
a stripped my 66 and i would like to check my frame numbers .where are they. i am not duing a frame off but i would like to find the numbers anyway.
i am willing to cut interior fiber glass to find them for piece of mind.
this is going to be a daily driver. does anyone have a picture of the location?
how big are they?

1. Top of frame rail near driver's seat.

2. Top of driver's side frame rail near top of kick-up area.

They were not deeply marked and may not be visible if you have surface rust.

Try using a small mechanic's mirror (on the end of a handle).

I need a more specific location. Where are they in relation to the upper shock mount? Are they all stamped at the same place?

On top of the left rear frame rail, directly above the upper shock mount bracket; clean the area first with a Scotchbrite pad, then put some white shoe polish on a rag and wipe the area with it, then wipe it off with a dry rag. The shoe polish will remain in the stamped number depressions and makes it easier to read the numbers with a mirror. :thumbs:

This is a link to my 66 frame. The black area is the frame numbers. I had it taped over when I had the frame sandblasted.
