First post-hibernation start and drive. Heard a buzzing in the engine bay and it’s the VR. Will it loosen/stop or just buy a new? Weird. Could see it vibrating.
Will do. Car’s in my daughter’s wedding tomorrow. So I’ll accept the buzz until Friday. Thx
Larry
An electromechanical regulators contacts open and close quite fast, especially when the battery is low (after a crank for example) and resemble a buzzer in that way. If you put your ear to the cover you would hear some light buzz-like noise. If you can hear it buzzing without your ear to it something is wrong. I would want to diagnose that before going anywhere far from home or without tools. Could be a shorted field or wiring to it.
Huh….. Thx Dan. Car’s about to be pulled from trailer for pics. It’s been on a tender all winter and the battery seemed strong for first start this year. Just got to get thru brief “drive off” today then diagnose. The buzz was very noticeable to a hard of hearing guy in the drivers seat.
