Hi,
I'm looking at a 65 roadster 300hp automatic that has side pipes on it. They show a window sticker with the side pipes listed as an option and wanted to know if they were available on 300hp cars in 65
Thanks for any help
Sidepipes were available on 300 HP engines with manual transmissions that had 2.5" manifolds, but 300 HP engines with PG had 2" manifolds, so I'm not sure if sidepipes were available with 300 HP/PG.
Download the '65 Corvette vehicle information package from the GM website. It should tell you if sidepipes were available with 300 HP/PG.

Duke,
how do I get to this website so I can loo it up
AO Smith or St Louis Body? But i am thinking like Duke that a 300 and auto could not get side pipes
So I'm guessing if it has side pipes the manifolds were changed or do they make two inch side pipes aftermarket
I don't have a picture of the tag to be able to tell where it was built
Side Note: Only 759 (N14) side exhaust cars were built in 65 according to the NSRC Spec Book (23,564 total Corvettes built)

"All small-block midyears had 2-1/2" exhaust pipes except base-engine Powerglides - they had 2" pipes. From '66-up, all small-block exhaust manifolds had 2" outlets, and everything except base-engine Powerglides had the 2-1/2" exhaust pipes swaged down to 2" just below the manifold outlets."
" '66-'67 327's (except 300hp Powerglides) all had 2-1/2" exhaust systems, but the exhaust manifold outlets were all 2"; the 2-1/2" front exhaust pipes were swaged down to 2" just below the connection to the exhaust manifold. 300hp Powerglides were 2" all the way to the mufflers."
I cannot seem to find anything to confirm the Auto/Side exhaust question.... I go with Duke!
Nolan's book pages 295-296 states that for '65 N-14 was available on all optional engines with manual transmissions from L-75-up, including L-78 when it was introduced. So that says no N-14 on 300HP/PG or 250 HP engines regardless of transmission. Another way to say this is that all engines with 2.5" manifolds could be ordered with side pipes, but not the engines with 2" manifolds, 300 HP/PG and 250 HP with either manual or PG.
