My stock '56 is missing the radiator shroud. Yesterday I had to idle in traffic for about 15 minutes, got up to about 220 but cooled back off when I got underway. Do you all run shrouds? Are they a pain to put on? Anyone got one?
I LIKE your '56! I bet it's got stories it could tell....
A shroud is a good thing if you expect to be in traffic and I recommend you install one. My '60 and '63 both have factory shrouds and they remain acceptably cool.
My track car (see avatar) has neither a shroud nor an engine mounted fan. It too stays cool but then there is the matter of 100mph air through the radiator!
Air takes the path of least resistance.
The shroud makes a big difference when standing still.
Make sure to also get the seals that cover the big gaps around the radiator.
Installing the shroud is not too bad.. You have to remove the fan.
