Default Drivetrain Issues

When backing out of garage, rubbing noise from drivetrain. This happens when in reverse. After going forward, noise goes away. the car has 300 HP, automatic trans., 37,000 +/- miles

What year is the car? Does it have drum brakes , or disk brakes or a combination of both ?

It's a 1963 SWC with drum brakes.

The front differential mount is stressed one way forward and opposite in reverse. If the mount is loose, the diff pinion end may move up or down enough to have the shaft rub on the E-Brake cables or something else. Might be witness marks on whatever is being rubbed.

True and the brackets were thin metal that often cracks. 63-4 use just a 7/16-14 short bolt in the first holes of the diff. This was revised to through bolts in 65. The bracket issue wasn't resolved until 69
