Steve - It would really help if you could post up some pics of the stampings and castings you're talking about. The #174 casting block was only used for 66-vintage 327's, both 300 horse and 350 horse applications. There were 'no' 4-bolt 327's in production cars as far as I know. All those extra stampings sound like something a machine shop would do to identify the block to a customer.
