I have a 67 with four speed had it rebuilt put back in now won’t shift.long bolt on top short bolt middle to hold shifter on.shifter won’t shift was told long bolt has to come back out. Had to move shifter to middle and put long bolt back in .shifter leakage hook up in neutral.
Once mounted, the Shifter needs to be in neutral, with all neutral gates lined up with “ tool” that holds everything in shifter in neutral…. then the linkage adjusted at the transmission levers while they are each placed in neutral.
the “ tool” (for a stock shifter) is a flat piece, about 1/2inch wide, 1/16+ thick and 1.5-2 inches long…
I have not heard of needing to unbolt/rebuilt the shifter body, that should be completely separate from adjustment and should affect adjustment.
I have mine apart right now, and was just prepping my new linkage the other night…. Don’t recall anything in the instructions or service manual.
I am installing a new/reproduction shifter and linkage kit from Paragon.
