Default Feedback needed!

Can a few2 C2 friends measure the space they have from their front tire to lower front fender lip for me. I have 1.5" when wheels are straight, but I am getting very close to hitting the lower fender lip when either wheel is turned inward (passenger front tire on a left handed turn radius or vice versa for the other side). I have a 66 convertible riding on 205/75/15 radials, on stock offset, direct bolt on KOs. Everything should be ok with these tires yet I have this issue. The car is square. Same exact spacing on the left front as well. Car has been aligned but may need a caster adjustment to "buy me" a 1/8" or more if possible? Main question here is whether 1.5", or about 2 finger spacing, the norm? Thanks, Steve.

I just measured 1 13/16" on the driver side and 2 3/8" on the passenger side, wheels straight ahead, 215/70/15 tires. Never hit the fender lip, although the driver side does rub the frame rail on LH turns at full lock.

Thx Avispa.....helpful...I had 215/70s but took them off as they were causing some top of fender lip close tolerances on the rear. I need 1/4 of an inch to feel safe...interested in hearing how I can gain that distance upfront without changing tires to super skinny 205/70s.

The 70s give you about 1/8th of an inch on each side over the taller 75s....still, 2 inches is great spacing.....not sure why I have only 1.5" on either side but 50 years, body work, factory differences, spring sag, alignment differences, etc etc can easily contribute to a 1/4 or 1/2 inch difference......thank you

Springs definitely sag over time. A decade ago I cracked the middle of the driver's side fender arch during an autocross when I braked hard, turned hard left, and spun 180* in my 67. This never happened again after I put in new springs all around.

Here are two different threads you should look at regarding tire clearance. As both will indicate there are differences between factory built cars and tire clearance so you need to look at your own car in a case by case comparison to others.

Still would love some more (maybe original car owners) to post there spacing for me. Is 1.5 inches the norm for 205/75 on stock rim cars? Sounds like 2” might be the standard?

Have you looked at the links I posted? One of them has some dimensions but as you READ the entire thread you will soon begin to realize what I am telling you, MANY were different from the factory. You can’t always go by what someone else has and expect it to work for you. Too many variables.

I read both threads and fully understand these cars have many variables even from factory. Thx.
