On an A/C car, when the **** is pushed in, the right vent takes air from inside the car and recycles it through the system. When you pull the know, the door changes position and outside air enters the system. So, it has no affect on the passenger, it affects everyone in the car. Example, your A/C is blowing cold. You pull the **** while driving in 105 degree temp. This allows all that hot air into the system, making the A/C useless.
On a C2 A/C car, when the **** I identified is all the way in, air goes into the right side vent from the cabin and is recycled. When the **** is pulled out, the door changes position and outside air is pulled into the evaporator.
