Default 'Extra' prong on ignition switch??

In the process of replacing my ammeter with a voltmeter, I had to remove the connections to the ignition switch to gain access. When I did, I discovered that the switch had 6 tangs only 5 of which were being used (3 prong connector plus two singles). I tested the unused prong and it is hot when the key is in the 'on' position. Any idea what it was for? My wiring diagram only shows 5 connections to the switch.

Clearly showing 'empty' prong on switch.

The ignition switch on 58-60 had an extra unused lug as you show, I think if you look closely it will be marked "ACC". Corvettes did NOT however have an accessory position incorporated into the OEM wiring. So if you want to play the radio for instance with the engine off, you would have to have the ignition in the "ON" hot position. This was changed in subsequent years.
