Default 65 Sidepipes Insulation?

Are the fiberglass insulation shield between the side exhaust and the side heat shields original or aftermarket?

I’ve seen cars with and without.

My GM covers (over the counter ~'92) have a hard, gray, molded fiberglass liner glued to the aluminum covers – if this is what you're referring to.

Yes. Mine have hard black liners glued in place. I see the part are sold on ZIP but did not show a GM part # and wasn’t clear to me in the AIM

Yes...stock from the factory. But, they can come loose after 55 years. Had to re-adhere mine this past spring. BTW, the cover and insulation came to St. Louis as an "assembly" and, therefore, the insulation is not called out separately in the AIM.

3M Panel Bonding Adhesive #08115. For that small, curved piece I would simply use some JB Weld.

I used JB Weld which held great and matched the original adhesive. Don't over use the JB Weld so that it oozes out that it shows. Also I used small sand bags as I didn't have the appropriate clamps to help in bonding.
