Pass Side Door handle / Latch play
I bought new reproduction handles for my 63 restoration (Trim Parts), Now the handle button rod looks like it's about 3/16" from hitting the latch and pushing the button all the way in does not open the latch assy. . Are there some gadgets of some sort that go on the rods to extend them so that they work? I think they are pressed into the buttons, so no adjustments there. Any other method to adjust these? . Driver's side works fine.

Make sure you received the correct handles for 63 since your car should have the raised door handle pads. Post a picture, easy to tell the difference between later handles.

My suspicion is you received a mixed pair of door handles, just post a picture of the bottom around the push button of the one that doesn't work. Do your doors have the raised fiberglass pads where the handles mount?

Looks like your missing a 'small rod' at the bottom of the picture, it helps actuate the opener...

Any small rod I know of is for the lock cylinder and lock inside to attach to the latch.
would you have a picture of what you are talking about ?
Note again, drivers side looks the same and works fine. there is a little play before engaging, but it unlatches fine.

Well, both handles are correct for 63 and both doors have the raised pads, not sure why you are having the problem.

Just an after thought. It looks like you used white lithium grease on the assembly. Be aware that it will harden up over time and cause you problems. I use Mobil 1 synthetic grease. Others use a green/blue marine wheel bearing grease. Jerry

Jerry - thanks for the tip - now's the time to do this . I was unaware that lithium grease will be an issue. I'll pull 'em, clean back up and use one of what you have suggested.
Looking for a handle button pin extender of some sort - the pins coming out of the buttons need about 3/16" more length.. Just curious if someone else has seen this issue and how it was addressed.
I've seen something that goes on the ends on handles from other models and might have some on the shelf - off to look this evening.
