Default Ignition Shielding

My top ignition shielding does not sit down on the bracket where the top bolt goes.
I have a 64 L84 FI.
I have to force it down, which I do not like to do, to get the bolt started. I use a longer bolt also.
I measured my cap from the bottom edge to the top of the spark plug wire tower, it measures 3 5/8", a standard cap is 3 3/4".
I looked at shielding kits and there is no call out for FI only.
I did put on 90 degree boots also.
is there a different LH bracket?
Thanks, Joe

That looks like the short post cap. There is only one LH bracket, and I think you have to push the shield down to start the bolt. I have to on my 64 FI.
Screw down the top bolt before you tighten the side wing nuts.

I don't think that the design of your 90* boots is helping. They look tall because of that extra tubular protrusion for the wire. Here's a photo of stock 90* boots for FI cars.

Everything in the ignition shielding is the same for fuel injection and non-fuel injection the only difference is the fuel injection distributor cap. That is because of the spacer that is underneath the fuel injection distributor.

I have the short tower cap.
Thank you 65hihp for the procedure
Chuck, you might be right about the 90* boots, I will have to see if I have ones like in you picture.
