Default Heat riser or spacer?

I have a question. Im going to replace my exhaust heat riser valve on my 435/427 engine. Currently it has the flapper removed but I want to replace the exhaust donut gaskets so I thought I would replace the heat riser with a new one from Paragon. My question, should I replace it with the original valve or a spacer? I don't use the car in the winter so heat really not an issue. Is there any advantages other then quicker heat in the vehicle? Any recommendations?

Thanks
ED

I have cars with the spacer, and cars with the original flapper. i notice no difference between them I'd just replace gaskets and stick with what you have

I replaced mine with a spacer. I noted carbon ( exhaust leak) from the shaft on mine. I am in a warm climate, with a non-original carb, so I didn’t see the need or benefit of forcing hot air into the intake, although I am pretty sure the crossover has not been blocked off.

When replacing the donuts, use metal ones. The others don't last.

Given that the car is not driven in winter, I'd go with the spacer and call it done.

Live well,

I don't drive my car in cold weather ever and so got rid of the flapper years ago and put in the spacer. No problems or issues with the change. 67 BB. C.J.
