Wanting to see if I can add an FI system with correct air cleaner assembly to a 300hp engine that currently has power steering and Vintage Air. Anyone seen this done???? Thank much! Mike.

I say yes, there is a post/s with at least 2 members who have done this (And had the O.E. Air cleaner tucked nicely also), some may say no but it’s been done..
I’m 65 yrs old & one of the many thing’s in life I’ve learned is with enough $$$$$ you can do just about anything…
The FI air cleaner canister will not fit with the alternator on the driver’s side. You can change to Vintage Air’s serpentine belt system, which will move the alternator in front of the valve cover, then it’ll all fit. I did this on a ‘63, with success. You’ll also need to change to a smaller crank pulley than is supplied with the belt system, to miss the frame.
Check out these SBC lower aluminum alternator mount kits for the drivers side it tucks the alternator down low, I know you are or want to use p/s that’s where
the $$$ comes into play & ingenuity or u can go to one of the electric p/s kits that a lot of C1 guys are running they are available for C2”s also.
You will probably have to go to a smaller version p/s pump & alternator they are out there & u can get that O.E. Air cleaner to work..
You may have to get rid of the mechanical fan & go to a electric fan?
Must do a lot of out of the box thinking & maybe hook up with a buddy who does some fabrication for a hobby or living??
It can be done you just have to be ready to spend some $$$$ & do a lot of homework..
You can’t move the alternator lower on a car with a power steering pump. The Vintage Air serpentine system solves all the problems - you won’t have to re-engineer anything.

Thanks for update. I believe this was one of the past posts I saw on this topic VERY clean set-up ….. Can the O.E. Mechanical fan still be used or is one forced to go to a electric fan..
I’ve done it on my 65 FI car, with vintage air, Borgenson PS, using original clutch fan and v- belt with original air cleaner. It’s a tight fit for sure but doable with planning.

Thanks Again
We originally had the OE fan on (as shown in the pic), but I didn’t like the way it cooled, so we took it off and went with a thermostat controlled electric puller fan. Worked great, never had a cooling problem. This car also had an in-tank mounted electric fuel pump that eliminated the need for the hot engine mounted pump, thus feeding cooler fuel to the injection. The car also has Steeroids rack and pinion power steering.
