I went to buy the lower firewall insulation kit for 63-64 Vettes and found out that this item is out of stock with all of the parts suppliers I have checked so far. I don't know what the lead time is yet, but would prefer not to leave my dash unassembled while waiting for the kit to be produced and shipped. Is anyone else running into this? Is it common to use a substitute system or product (My car is clearly not an NCRS reproduction)? Thank you for the help.
I don't know anything about delays etc, but some guys doing a full interior use Dynamat. Other products of similar composition are on the market. Google car interior insulation.
Hi Mike, do not know about current availability but an alternate source is Quiet Ride. I do not have experience with thier product.. The facing of both pieces is made from ABS plastic and the insulation may not be the factory type material. I think it is insulated with a material that is supposed to block heat and noise but you need to ask. You also need to ask about the holes that are prepunched. I think the holes for the fuse block and steering column are cutout but the holes for the mounting pins may not be so ask. Part number to order is CORV 6367-C, list price is $294.40. The PDF catalog is linked Corvette Catalog

That has been the consensus, I got a few other responses to use similar products. Thanks for confirming!
The firewall insulation pads had been coming from Joe Malicke in Kansas. I haven't ordered any in a long time, but I think he's still who makes them. He use to sell to the public under the name Country Corvettes, but for many years now he has only sold wholesale to Corvette vendors. Joe is a craftsman, and his work is meticulous, but he's never been very quick at getting out product. The wait times for his insulation pads have always been long. I don't know if he waits till he has enough orders to make it worthwhile to make a run, or if he's just always backed up because he's a small, "cottage industry" type operation.

I am late in responding, but thanks for this reference. I am going to call Quiet Ride on Tuesday to get some additional details, but I like the idea of an ABS shell with insulation. I already have a layer of Noico sound deadener on the firewall, and if Quiet Ride has their product in stock I think I will add this. I am worried about attachment with those pins, I have been reading about the difficulties with fastening them.

I bought one of those kits for my 1965 from Zip's Corvette. They are super thin installation and covers around 30% of the firewall.
They are worthless, not good for heat insulation or sound installation, so I returned mine for a full refund.
You need a really thick thermal pad and 100% coverer age. Installed on the firewall for what results you are looking to accomplish.
