Well I blew up my old motor which I new I was going to do and just got done last week installing my new 406 with a dart little my block billet 400 mains and a aviaid road race pan boost line 3.750 rods a custom spec solid roller from comp cams 648 lift 256/268 duration with wiseco blower pistons 8.7 to 1 compression afr 220 heads and ultra pro magnum xd roller rockers and topped off with a high helix blower shop 671 with about 15 pounds of boost and my ignition is all msd 6 btm and pro billet distributor and so far I am extremely happy with the engine, it runs cool no oil leaks no clutch chatter and very smooth no vibration at freeway speeds and very street friendly to drive the clutch is a Mcleod 1200 I will be breaking in the rings and clutch the next few hundred miles then off to dyno I will probably run at least 97 to 100 octane fuel in it and as long as run the high octane I will probably running around 33 or 34 degrees of total timing but if I use like 93 octane I will need to pull timing under boost to like 26 or around there .
The seed was planted when my Dad started taking me to the drags when I was 9 or 10 years old..... Dragsters and Funny Cars..... the sounds, the speeds, and the smells of race fuel and burning rubber...... I remember seeing those big motors, and the supercharges with that big belt spinning it..... I had not idea back then what it was, or how it worked, just knew the cool cars had them...... When I see a car with a blower sticking out of the hood, hear that distinctive whine of a car with a blower, I cannot help but to notice it, and want to check it out......
Thanks it actually drives very nice no different than having 350 hp to 800 hp .
I believe you. My '67 with a 1240 RWHP 555" turbo setup drives great anywhere I want to go. I'm building an 8-71 blown 408" Clevor for a Ford project right now.

What are the specs for your 408 engine mine will be right around 15 pounds of boost max and about 12 minimum high helix blower from the blower shop it makes boost almost off idle .
Also before I dyno the motor I need to make sure my msd 6btm is pulling timing out under boost if I was running race gas I could set timing around 32 to 34 degrees and leave it but now I will either be running a octane booster called race gas which will treat 10 gallons of 91 octane up to 97 octane or I will be buying 55 gallon drums of 111 octane .
Anybody use a gas booster or what fuel you using I was thinking about using this stuff if I was using 91 octane which is all I can get in Cali I would have to pull my timing to like 26 degrees .

It's a 9.0 compression deal built for the street. Forged crank/rods/gas ported pistons. Hellfire rings. I'm using aluminum heads and a "non-blower" style solid flat tappet cam. It's an ancient NOS Ultradyne . 251/259@.050 on a 106 LSA. Lift is .632/.657. 8/71 set at 10% over for now. 2 x 700 CFM Holley's.
I haven't had it on the dyno yet..just fired it up on test stand a few times and broke in the cam. It fires instantly and idles very clean with incredible response. Haven't done any tuning yet...will after I get it through the dyno.

106 lsa I thought most street set up run around a 112 to to 115 lobe sep it must sound really good .
VP and Torco make great products that actually work
JBSBLOWNC5 is a member here, distributor for Torco.
Look him up, pm tell him your needs. Or page in the socal section
Picked up a case of Accelerator 100? 110?(have to go look) awhile back.
Add it to a tank of premium..for your boost may need a different product. Good luck with VP racing products also.
Auto pts store stuff all of it I avoid.
Ive seen those bottles in the pic above before. who sells them?Brand?

Most do....but I'm going with the premise if it makes more power N/A..it will do better with boost too. I don't think there's enough overlap to cause any issues and will help with the off boost part. It actually doesn't sound radical at all.
I just stumbled into this old 35+ year old new cam that had been lying on a shelf and decided to give it a try. Figure it's made from the "good stuff" as old as it is and then I found some genuine Johnson lifters with EDM oiling holes.

It was either the race gas product or the ones you mentioned or I will be buying the 55 gallon drums of 111 octane which I trying to avoid.

your right it does sound smooth and very nice, are you going to lock out your timing or run a boost retard ignition and what gas do plan on running my motor is 8.7 to one and made 550 hp just carbed no blower and my blower starts makes boost as soon as the rpm goes up .
I've got it locked out at 35* right now. Heck..it's even got dual points!!
I might run a boost retard eventually.....I'll decide after I dyno it and see how it does in the car. I'll use good gas for the dyno session to see what it likes.....and then work up a pump gas tune.

after I break yhe clutch and engine in I will dyno and find the sweet spot either locked out or using my boost retard or both ,
