Default UPS delivery problems

i made a first order at Corvette Central for my C2... ( meanwhile 3 orders.to follow .. ) , they send it with UPS, i didn't even asked a shipment quote ....
Package was within a week at Brussels warehouse , took weeks ( with big apology from UPS ) to get my import & VAT taxes invoice which i payed the same day . ( Belgium )
Now that package is in that warehouse for 2 months... i see only the daily scans on shipment progress .

Nor my direct mails helped , nor any contact from Corvette Central... UPS promise to investigate in a "general" reply , but nothing happens.

I payed Corvette Central , i payed import duties.

I wonder who is responsible ? If Corvette Central uses UPS aren't they responsible it is delivered at the customer adress ? As a customer you only pay for it ... and hope for the best

thanks for comments !
Barry

Barry, that has to be very frustrating, I don't have an answer but it sounds like CC has done what they could do, in good faith. Another factor is that the order and initial shipment would be made under US laws. The delay seems to be in Belgium. I don't know how that all works - maybe somebody on here familiar with international commerce can educate us.

That said, I would keep hounding UPS asking WHY it's still in the warehouse and what has to happen for them to put it on a truck and deliver it?

thanks Railroadman , yes, i mail them every week to ask why ? Seems nobody cares.
At least i was expecting a reply what's the problem... but no.
Also CC doesn't seems to get a answer for UPS... the more as i assume they are a "big" UPS customer , i'm only the delivery adress....

yes, frustrating...

To me, it’s the seller who contracted for the shipping and has to claim for damage or loss. I went through this on a gun purchase and the manufacturer said it was my problem. I said, not so fast - you picked the mode of shipping, you dropped it off at the shipper, you made payment in some form for the shipping, you have the shipping documents - not me. They finally relented and filed a claim. Fortunately FedEx found the gun a week later. But - international shipping and import processes - you may sort of be in no-man’s land Barry. I would keep playing the squeaky wheel in hopes of getting some relief. Good luck.

Dan , it's the first time i have "problems" with delivery... i bought the same time another US package and a good week later it was at my door ( FedEx )

I don't understand how a package at UPS is daily scanned for months on a row at the same warehouse , there isn't a alarm bell ringing of what's going wrong. Wonder how long they will keep doing it

Also in UPS mail reply they always talk about "colleagues" to solve it , as if you never get to the right person and sure no direct contact info.

had a mail from CC yesterday that they will again contact UPS.....

All it would take is ONE person to say "I will solve this problem, today" and get it done. The "colleagues" stuff is baloney and just passing the buck.

Barry, can you find a list of UPS officials in Belgium, and start at the top? Maybe calling and emailing the regional vice president or whoever it is would help. Even though they probably would not talk to you directly, eventually they might pass it to an employee and say "Get this guy off my back".

I used to think UPS was the way to go with international shipping, at least to Canada. I shipped a Mopar tachometer up there last year and used UPS and from memory it was only about $25 - 30. I remember at the time thinking this is a lot cheaper than expected. Last week I was shipping a small car part to someone in Canada and used the UPS international calculator. It was about $35 for standard delivery which was less than FedEx and also the post offices. I went down to the UPS counter and the guy said something like $63 for standard shipping. I told him that wasn’t going to work - the buyer and I had agreed to no more than $50 for the part and shipping and I didn’t mind giving parts away but I sure wasn’t going to lose money doing it. I said your calculator showed only about $35 - what’s with that? He would only mumble something about you can’t always go by that. Bullshit. I told the guy in Canada, sorry, it’s a no-go.

Barry, I would keep after Corvette Central. They owe you the parts or your money, no matter what the shippers problems are.

UPS use to be the "gold standard" for shipping, but lately they've really gone down hill. I had a similar situation with a package recently. It arrived at the local distribution center on a Friday, and I received tracking the next day saying it was out for delivery. It never showed up and that night tracking just said the order was processing, or something like that. When Monday came and it was still showing the same thing, and had not gone out for delivery, I started contacting UPS. After dealing with their chat and phone people I got no where, other than being told they "expected" it to be delivered by Wednesday. The distribution center it was sitting in is only about 15 miles form me. Later that night I got an email survey from UPS asking if I was happy with how my inquiry was handled by their customer service person. Needless to say, my response was less than positive, but someone must have seen it because my package arrived by 8:30 am the neat morning. Unfortunately, the package was torn apart, and the contents were damaged, which is likely why they were delaying delivering it. Luckily the shipper stepped up and sent a replacement for the damaged item, but they're a huge company and it was a small $12 item, so they probably just ate the loss instead of trying to get UPS to refund it.

I hate to say it, but your package may have been damaged in some way, or the package broke open and UPS is stalling while they determine if it's damaged or missing parts. It seems to be how they handle lost and damaged shipments anymore. Keep hounding them, and if it's close enough, go to the distribution center in person with your tracking number, and ask for a supervisor.

Central is a big customer of UPS, so they may have some leverage, but it's not helpful that the problem is outside the US. I know international calls aren't cheap, but it may pay to call Central and ask for Beverly. Though Central was just sold in August, Beverly is the wife of the founder, and I think she's still there during the transition. I've gone to her before when I've had a problem, and she's always been helpful. The new General Manager at Central is named Tony Genty, though I don't know how involved he is with the day to day operations yet. He's also involved in Paragon, since they're both now owned by the same company, and I assume he's quite busy with dealing with the transfer of ownership. An email to Tony, with copies of any correspondence you have with Corvette Central and UPS, might get some action too. His email is tgenty@corvettecentral.com
