Default Big block

Is the big block frame different than the small block. What would you have to change going from small block to big block.

Frames are the same. The AIM clearly list everything needed to take a base 300 3 speed to a BB

From 65 on the BB and SB frame was the same. Prior to that - no BB cars. You can do a search for what made a BB car - there are literally hundreds of prior posts on the subject.

Do you simply want to put a big block in your small block car or do you want it to look like the car came from GM with a big block?

VERY big difference.

Early C2 frames did not have clearance for BB balance damper.

My car is a 67 coupe. I was told small block cars didn’t have room for the bb damper. I am trying to make it look like it came from the factory.

Easy to tell, there is a 1/2 moon recess in the center rear top, right in front of the crankshaft centerline, front crossmember.

Radiator, fan shroud, hood, hood prop, engine, z-bar, throttle linkage, front springs, shocks, rear sway bar, differential u-joint caps, potentially the instrument cluster, and I’m sure I’m missing some things.

you are forgetting the engine itself, all the brackets, pulleys, and linkage. Factoid if he has a L79 I/C and cloning the L36/L68 it uses the same I/C

To look like a BB prepare for a big
job, and a expensive one. There are a
lot of big and little parts involved.
Good luck

This is not an inexpensive proposition, im in the process of doing very much the same thing to my 65, however I’m not just swapping an engine I also will be upgrading the transmission and full front and rear suspension, I currently have roughly a little over 30K in parts and that includes a brand new crate motor, and I’m not finished with ordering parts, you would be surprised how the little things you need will add up quickly, good luck , if you have the budget for the swap and the ability to do it go for it, there truly is nothing like the feeling of a big block.
