Interesting question. They are so cheap, I have never tried to repair one. I am a tinkerer by fault, so I try to repair everything before I replace it. I have junk I don't need that I have repaired just for the satisfaction of knowing how it works and saving $.03.
Give it a shot, you have nothing to lose.
Start at about the 2:40 mark. Don't pull the button off like the guy in the video did. Be carefl not to crack the plastic when bending the crimps outward to remove the contact. Then you can clean the contacts and reassemble.
Thank you very much Vegas for the help. I am going to give it a try. My car is not going to be restored and I want to save everything that is original to my car even if it means having to fix minor things like this. It was completely frozen up and not working at all and now I got it unfrozen and mostly working without taking it apart but I still would like to take it apart and clean the contacts.
