Default C2 trailing arm disassembly

Hi all, Does someone know of a video or procedure to replace a 1964 trailing arm. Can I just switch all parts from old arm to new one once removed assembly from car.
Thanks and stay warm, around Chicago at least.
Frank.

You need some special tools to work on the spindle. Yes, you remove the training arm from the car and work on it on the bench, then reinstall the assembly.

Lots on YouTube. Search this —> C2 corvette training arm rebuild

Bearings can be replaced on the bench or in the car. On the bench is much better and if the rebuilder is knowledgeable a much better job is done. I have seen a lot more 63-4 TA's come my way this year, odd how thing cycle. Previous workers account for a lot damage to these arms

The YT video's I have watched are not that good and some of the methods are poor, but that doesn't stop people from thinking the job is easy or correctly done when they bolt them back on the car. I am working on a set of 64's now in fact.

Taking them apart and reusing the shims and spacers will not typically give you good results. Different people use different methods, I like to parallel grind all the mating parts and set them up for -0- lateral play. Others may just wash the parts and use them as is or just replace with new ones.

Default trailing arm

Thanks. my spindle and bearings are in great shape. It's the "other" end, long story, "circumstances" caused a problem there.(not your normal pivot bolt set up problem)
So do I have to set up my spindle / bearings all over when transferring to a new arm ?
Thanks,
Frank

You can replace just the arm.
The axle flange will have to come off then parking brake shoes have to be removed to get to the 4 nuts holding on bearing support and axle assembly should come out. Rust may hold it in so use Kroil to spray on it
The flat washer should be replaced with a new cupped washer and torqued to 100 ft lb and pinned
