Default half shaft guards

I did a post in the c3 section as well I am trying to safely secure my half shafts if they break free and will be going with a 12 bolt center section and chrome oly shafts with 31 spline 1350 outer stubs . Thanks my 69 corvette puts out 650 hp and my c2 being conservative around 800 . Thanks .

I haven’t seen anyone do this but maybe someone has. To me the problem is the the hoop needs to be in the middle to protect from either u- joint letting go. And by the time you have a hoop large enough to not interfere with suspension travel, it may be too large to keep a thrashing half shaft away from the body. The floor was damaged on my car due to an inner u-joint failure. I don’t know if that is more common than an outer one or not. Maybe some of the racer guys know. Half shaft hoops just off the side of the differential would be pretty easy to fabricate up and weld to a cross piece mounted to the crossmember or under the strut rod bracket. But it wouldn’t do much if an outer u-joint let’s go.

Tom’s loop, upper link kit for keeping the wheel on the car in case of a break, and HD cover.

I’m going to guess there’s some more of Tom’s stuff in the differential

I found a couple of different options when I searched "C2 Corvette half shaft safety hoops"

https://www.racevette.com/store/p6/H...s_1963-82.html

https://www.vansteel.com/index.cfm?f...p=1956&ID=2914

Both look pretty similar.

Good luck!

That’s because they are both DragVette loops
I may still have the picture of the one that broke

I dont have either of their products-Shark Bite or Drag Vette, but Drag Vette is probably the one I m thinking about. They had just hoops, then they have another integrated to their multi-lnk. Since it was my mistake, let me grab a picture.

But First my friend Tom was a real Corvette Drag racer- back in the day, so tested everything as GTR Gary will attest. Gary you are one of the knowledgeable guys who helps everyone! 👍

I found this on Racevette site, who lists Drag Vette, but don't know if they are one and the same.

One the Shark Bite, I just looked and the part I remember seeing is a Pivot bracket, not a hoop design- at least from what shows.

I was able to talk to Gary for a while yesterday on which set up would be best for me and decided on the Tom's 1350 vette axle kit and also got some half shaft guards that are super beefy , I will add Gary was very helpful and knowledgeable as well and dealing with Tom's was great too I was able to speak to Tom's daughter and she set me up with a package deal, I will add their are not that many companies out there that treat you like your not just a number, talking with Gary and Tom's daughter was like talking to your sister or brother in a good way though lol .

I had a similar experience with Tom's daughter. She was easy to talk to and gave me several options..
