sorry , perhaps stupid question... i renewed all ***** on my '67 but hesitate about the lights ****. Can we just pull it out and push new one in or do we need to do something inside the switch ?

Nothing needs to be done in the switch. The **** and rod around $30 plus shipping that I have seen. Remember that after market parts are like a box of chocolates.
Yes, push the release button on the switch body and pull the rod and **** out. Don't disconnect any wires, don't unscrew anything, just find the spring loaded release button under the dash on the body of the switch and hold it while wiggling the **** and shaft and they will pull out as a single unit. Insert the new one. Sometimes it takes a little moving slightly in/out and around to remove and to install, but it will work if the part you order is correct. Millions of cars use the same method and almost all the old GM's use this switch type.
