I’m visiting my son & family in Nashville for Christmas so decided to take a run to Bowling Green. We toured the museum, kids liked the racecar simulation. But I was a little disappointed. I didn’t see one 58, 59, 60, 64, 65, or 66! I would have thought they would have at least one to represent every year. I’m talking in stock dress, not race.

The museum has a process in place to rotate displays based on cars donated, themes, and other program ideas. It's not uncommon to find your desired example not in place. The one attraction of the historic cave-in is something to talk about and revisit. As a Lifetime Member, change is good! Dennis

Did you go to the Vette Assembly Factory across the way? Just wondering if it's still open for tours.

Yes, it was open but we didn’t have time to go. Another interesting thing was all the staged Corvettes waiting to be picked up and being picked up.

My best Museum memory was picking up my 2007 coupe in August 2006. I signed on for the Museum Delivery option, so MY car was on display inside; friends and family watched on closed circuit TV. Three weeks earlier, having paid for the Buyer's Tour, I had accompanied my car down the production line and watched the mechanical symphony of the pieces of the car coming together before my eyes. I got to sign and date a frame crossmember, the torque tube and the bell housing, and start the car at the end of the line. Quite an experience!

I don't remember a lot of C1s at the Museum. My Pizza Man '54 was there for about 18 months but the C1/C2 representation was not particularly robust. I am sorry, but anything beyond '67 just doesn't do it for me. When you get into the post-'72 cars, there is no historic significance with any of them.

The museum has a rule which is not overly explicit, but they don't want cars on display much longer than 12 months. I can understand their interest in rotation, but some of the significant C1/C2 cars, race provenanced or not, should be allowed a longer time frame. I was able to squeeze another six months out of them but that was it.

We've only been there once, in 2010. They had a....59?....which was a custom color, can't remember the exact story but think it was selected by the wife of a GM exec? It was a green which you'd either love or hate, I thought it looked excellent. No pics of that one.

They also had this fantastic '58, and it looks like another C-1 behind it:

59BlueSilver, Did you take a few laps on the road course while there? I did after Labor Day. What a thrill for me. I had never been on a road course before. Doing four laps was a blast with my son riding shotgun!

I was there February 5, 2015 to pick up my museum delivery C7 Convertible. Was darn cold that day but no snow/freezing ran. Drove it back to Texas--just took it easy in the cold with those summer tires. Great memory. I also enjoyed the factory part of the tour more than the museum, although the drive out from Main Street was fun (your guide drives the Corvette out with you in the passenger seat).

As others have said, the displays are rotated so certain years may not be represented when you are there.

These two cars, 65 and 66, were there for several years but were gone last time I was there.

I was first there prior to the sinkhole and was disappointed again because of lack of C1’s & C2’s, but I can understand the rotation, guess I just don’t hit it at the right time. When you pick one up, is there someone that goes over all the operating controls and features with you?
No, didn’t know about the road course, that would’ve been fun!

59BlueSilver, if you go on the NCM web site, search for the live feeds of delivery. You will see a rep orienting the new owner. Dennis
