You can click the "edit" button under your post, insert the missing word, and hit "save", and it's all fixed!

I once had my 62 up to 130, on I15 from Provo to SLC on Christmas Day. I was driving with the top down when a mustang tried to pass me. Down shifted to third, up shift at 100, mustang gone but at 130, the telephone poles indeed look like a picked fence but more concerning is the whole front end starts to lift and steering becomes ify. I suspect that if unlatched the hood would have lifted. Not good for vision especially if your steering is getting light.
Keep the hood latched and speed under 120. All is good.

I once had my '67 up to 130 - the car had more left but the driver didn't. As you say, it just seemed to float a little. Forum members state that the hood, if unlatched, will just rise a few inches, allowing air to escape and the front end to settle back down. Wish I had known that back then, but I don't have the car any more and wouldn't try it even if I did.

I still have the 62, but have no plans to try that speed again.

The hood on my Grand Sport vintage racer will try to rise at any speed above about 100 MPH. I restrain it with loose fitting leather straps at each rear corner. They are loose specifically so that the hood can rise a few inches and relieve under-hood air pressure. As far as I can tell, this does reduce front end lift by at least a little.

That said, I'm sure there is some velocity above which my car will still try to become a very bad airplane. When that happens, though, I won't be the driver.
