Any help decoding this number? The seller states it’s the original engine but the car is an automatic and I’m finding the 54z is for a manual. Any help would be appreciated.
I appreciate the quick responses and help. Just wanted to confirm what I’ve been reading on a couple sites. Now have to break the news to the seller who thinks it’s the original engine.
1954 Engine Specifications Model & Code No. Cylinders CID HP Comp. Ratio Carb. Trans. One-Fifty, Two Ten & Bel Air passenger cars

The stamp on the motor is good but just not Corvette
ALL 54 Corvettes are suffix F54YG - ALL
F is for Flint and YG is a for Corvette
The stamp is original - the first 5 characters are gang stamped and the next two are individually stamped
The F54Z in this case is also gang stamped and is tilted to the right
Also check the head - the head should be a 241 - if it is not - it is not a Corvette head - the number is on the drivers side by the valve cover
The block should be a 911 block - casting number is down by the fuel pump
