Default 63 Glovebox Light Socket

I have ordered several of these glovebox light sockets over the last several months and none fit the hole snugly provided for it. What holds it in? It also needs to fit tight to provide a good ground connection. I am looking for one that fits snugly like it should. Anybody else have this problem?

Post a picture of what you received. The 63 socket was a one year only part.

I posted a broken one and a working original.

This is the type I have received each time. https://www.zip-corvette.com/63e-glo...ht-switch.html

As you can see, the part that fits the holder is smaller than the 63 type. Who carries the correct one for the 63 only? These suppliers don't recognize that the 63 is unique.

Thanks for the picture!

No one makes them. Look for Corvette used or 57 - 63 Chevrolet.

I suppose you could put a bushing in the receiver to bring it down to 64-67 dimension. Or maybe a trip to the junkyard to find a generic one off any car that's the right size.

Here is an original switch I recently bought after a 10+ year search. Notice the surrounding install fingers and raised area near plunger..................prior to finding this I purchased a switch from Tracy Corvette listed currently on e/bay by vettepartsman @ $10. that worked for me. begee22

I bought one from Tracy, still waiting to get it.

One year only switch with the "fingers" to mount it. They were used in other GM cars of the era. Look on EBAY... Chevy, Pontiac, Olds, Cadillac, etc.

Tough to find one in nice condition.

Configuration looks right, but every original I've seen has been black....not gray like the one in the photo.

Other than being gray, does it look right? I can always paint it with plastic paint.

Got it all together and works fine. Only thing is that shield gets very hot and its touching the cardboard above. Maybe I'll get an LED bulb. It takes a 57. Thanks for all the help!
