I have done business, off and on, for over 40 years (which is truly irrelevant) with one of the "big name" Corvette supply houses. I really have had virtually no complaints in the past. However, recently I wanted to purchase 2 1oz. bottles of touch up paint from this supplier which I won't name at this time. The cost of the 1 oz. bottles was quite high but I was willing to pay the price for a product that is not available on every corner. I don't live near any Auto Paint Supply stores. This is not the problem. SHIPPING COST is the problem! Full disclosure - it states $8.00 flat rate UPS. My thoughts were...DAMN that's high for 2 1oz.bottles, but what can you do. Imagine how pi$$ed I was to find out the charge was $8.00 for EACH bottle...even though the 2 small bottles were in the same envelope. Next I discover that ,even though I was charged these "flat rate UPS" charges, the envelope was shipped and delivered by the USPS. A TOTAL OF $16.00 to mail 2 1oz bottles in a brown envelope. Naturally I assumed the company had made a computer error in charging $8 for each bottle, but contacting the supplier they say NOOO "Our vendor drop ships and charges us". So NO $8.00 REFUND. I know,I know $8 is not going to put me in the poor house. But I hate to get screwed and not even a set of puckered lips. RANT OVER.
Just yesterday I was @ NAPA for a manifold gasket for my '66 327 Coupe. I saw the paint dept. employee and asked if they could mix a small batch of '66 Laguna blue for one touch up spot inside the door. They mixed a small bottle for me and it was an excellent match for what I needed. Perhaps next time see the paint mixer @ NAPA. Best wishes, Sully
P.S. about 20$
If it matches, count yourself fortunate. I use MCW the model car paint supplier for models, and so far as they work from formulas, they seem accurate and I haven't ordered recently, but lacquer. My last order I got 4 bottles of different colors for one shipping price.

Guys, thanks for the heads up. I don'r like to rain down on anybody's parade but that situation really pissed me off. I never thought, or knew my NAPA store mixed up paint (I will ask next time) and the model store is a great tip though I know of none in my area. Shipping costs are entirely out of hand and I do realize a good part of it is our outrageous fuel costs. Someone, somewhere, somehow is going to have to put a stop to this downward spiral. Almost makes me glad I'm old...won't have to put up with it as long. Drive on PS- I did say "almost"
I've noticed some mfg's, vendors and resellers have really been taking advantage of shipping charges since Covid came about. It's true that shipping charges are up, but an experience like yours just says "we don't care". Many are trying to cover supplies/labor as well as shipping and that doesn't go unnoticed by those with experience.
Just had the same experience with Micro-Mark on a Christmas present. Silly little I-Phone controlled RC aircraft kit that weighed 8 oz per the package. Charged $18+ for shipping, but I needed it. Then they recharged my CC for an additional $3+ with no explanation. Could have been shipped in a USPS flat rate box for under $10. I will remember that.
