My mechanic said my original radiator is leaking (I didn’t think to ask where) which the car with now a little over 80k miles has been served well with it.
My question is if it is simply leaking at a seam would the original date coded 1965 radiator be of any value for a car being NCRS judged or are the DeWitt date coded one’s acceptable without point hits?
It must be a very minor leak or just started as I have not smelled or seen any evidence of the leak. It was just seen when he was removing the engine for replacement.
DeWitt's radiators usually score with little if any deductions. An original 1965 radiator that is now leaking should not have much value in my opinion.

13 years ago my original '63 radiator developed a small leak and as you know they are unfixable. Nothing to lose so purchased a can of Bar's Leaks and.......................has not leaked since! This method can also effect heater core but last Aug. received a TF with no deductions. Judges were quite impressed with 60 year old radiator!!!!! begee22
Well, I had already bought another radiator for the car on reserve since I figured it was on barrowed time. I won’t be using any Bars-leak in it. But it f someone wants it if they pay the shipping for it they can have it.

Somebody wanting all original might want it - heck someone might be sick if it got away from them.
You can post it on parts for sale for enough $$ for your trouble to deal with it and see.
My question. Are there still radiator repair shops that can successfully recore an original aluminum radiator? If so, is the process too expensive to make fiscal sense?
I worked at a radiator shop (front counter) and some of the aluminum rads where repaired with hot glue guns
It looked like a mess when done but it got people a little longer use. No guarantee was written on the invoice.
If it were me, I might replace it but I'd hang on to it. One thing I learned a long time ago is to never toss anything involving Vettes. Just my 2 cents...

Unless it is a leak at a seam these radiators are NOT repairable due to he nature of of thei construct.

Thanks for clarification. I have seen pinhole leaks in aluminum radiators that couldn’t be repaired. Stop Leak sometimes stopped the pinhole but also sometimes clogged a tube elsewhere in the core. I though there might be a full core replacement that could attach to original tanks.

l recall John Hinckley saying that every Corvette left St, Louis with Bars Leak in the system.

I am sure that is par for the course for all auto manufactures for all cooling systems.
there is no radiator shop that will be able to dip braze, or pressure furnace braze the aluminum plus have the machines needed to mill down to the core need to fix these. dip brazing is a very dangerous operation.

After I used Bars Leak for small radiator leak somehow it compromised the heater core to the extent that only warm air comes out of ducts so please proceed with caution if used. begee22
