Default Quartz clock

I bought it about 9 years ago but since the negative battery cable is disconected 99.999% of the time, I never knew for sure the clock worked. I took the car out the other day and after an hour of driving, the time never changed. It's getting power so I assume the quartz clock went Tango Uniform.

Does it have 12v connected to it?

You also need a ground wire. I think it screws into a boss on the console plate to which it is attached.

Neither my original nor my quartz replacement had a ground lead. Both the clock and the bulb socket are grounded when you install them in the dash.

You're correct, there is no dedicated ground wire. The time is correct twice a day so I guess I'll just leave it alone.

If the battery cable is off 99.999% of the time you don’t need o’clock anyway.

Try a thump on the backside with the power on. That gets me going.

I jumped a 3 amp fuse across my knife switch disconnect just for the clock. Keep spares handy. You can’t start the car with a 3 amp fuse providing the ground circuit. LOL ask me how I know.

Drive em safe

Here is the ground wire to the console plate from the 59 Assembly Manual and a picture of the wire on the back of my car.
