At my age as with many my night vision is not what it used to be. I have considered installing one of these. Do these come as a complete system with a display or are the like many things today that they want you to use your phone for the display screen? I would like to have one with a screen that I could just set on maybe the heater control ***** while I need to use it and then store in the glove box otherwise.
I used one with a phone monitor on my C6. Mounted it above the license plate with 3M emblem mounting tape. Attached the sending unit concealed behind a tail light assembly, attached to the body. Powered it from the tail lamp circuit. Had to turn lights/parking lights on to use it. You can see the traffic behind you while driving on the road just like a later model with the rearview camera, excepting that you won’t be roof mounted like the C8. Still a nice feature to have.

i have back up lights on both of my cars so I would power it from there and not have to have my lights on to power it.
There's so many small cams today that I'm sort of envisioning one on a license plat frame, and then a temporary hanger on my rear view mirror. When I back up, open the App on the phone, cradle the cellphone in the hangar, do my business, remove phone and cradle, have a slice of pie.

I could have used the back ups on the C6 but it would have made it a bit tough to use while driving forward. The camera I used also took a few seconds to power up 😹. Having the camera on all the time was an advantage for the unobstructed rear view.
I was testing a power converter (6 Volts Positive ground to 12 Volts negative ground) that I use on my old Fords. One of the items I used to test it was the cheapest backup camera/screen I could find on Amazon. I think it was about $30. The camera mounts like the top of a license plate frame. It worked very well, so well in fact that I still have it on my '51 coupe 5 years later. They are very easy to get used to.
