Default Radiator gap

I looked at a 59 corvette and while looking through the grille teeth I noticed that the radiator set about 2 inches above the bottom of the channel in radiator support. Everything fits, the shroud fits, the bottom hose fits to the bottom of the radiator. nothing looks out of the norm.
The Radiator still has the tag on the tank. Wonder if it has been recored along the way with a shorter core. Maybe someone can enlighten me as to if it is wrong or right.. I am just curious.

I had a few questions around this a while ago as was missing a few bits including the rubber bottom and side seals, I'm baffled as to why the radiator is so short other than the drain in the rad doesn't line up with the drain in the support

Here is the pieces as shown in the ZIP corvette parts catalogue: https://www.zip-corvette.com/58-62-r...wer-seals.html
