Default Suffix Codes

I recently acquired 3 -67 427 blocks. The code I can,t ID is T0831E
I can,t locate a code in books showing just an E on the end. I know its Aug 31 but the closest code I find is JE. This is a 4 bolt main block.
Anyone have a clue could use the help. Thanks

The lime book sticky on the top of the C1-C2 page is your best resource for suffix codes. But it seems you’re missing a digit or read it wrong. A picture would help

Welcome to the CF. If you know for sure they are 427s, JE is 427 SHPE Tri-carb, if the code is JF, Tri-carb w/AIR (Air Injection Reactor). In case the letters are not clear, JE was also used on 396 blocks in Chevelle & Monte Carlo 1969, JF was used in Camaro & Nova 396 HPE 1969 Dennis

In '82, I bought a replacement 427 for my 69 L36 and it was a '67 #351 4-bolt block with JA for an L71 435 Horse engine with Calif AIR smog equipment.
To the original poster, the #351 are the last three digits of the raised block casting numbers on the drivers side rear bellhousing flange.
And...Welcome to the Corvette Forum.

Is it possible that there is a '1' before the 'E'? That would make it an IE which is a 1967 427 385hp 4B, MT from a passenger car

That doesn't look like any Tonawanda stamp I've ever seen. And, the pad looks too short but maybe that's because the numbers are so large.

Are you sure it's got a 1967 casting date?
What is the block's casting number located on top flange, driver's side, at the transmission mounting boss?

As 67:72 said, that's NOT a factory stamp, nor is it a pad from a 3904351 block. The pad is way too narrow. Look at my pad---It extends about 4 inches to the left of the water pump upper bolt hole, and the engine ID stamping is about 3 inches to the left of the hole. The VIN is supposed to be to the right of that above the hole. You say that it is a 351 block---Take a small hammer and tap the 3904351 numbers lightly with the hammer to see if the numbers chip off. Many 351 blocks have been faked by someone grinding off the numbers and replacing them with a different number. Take a picture of the 3904351 casting number and the casting date--The date is located right above where the starter mounts on the side of the block. We'll get to the bottom of this.
