Hey all. Just sniffing out my dream 57. Is this an original tag? Doesn’t take anything away from the car much for me I’m just curious and I know you guys will know. Thanks.

Welcome to the Forum sir. That is one beautiful C1. Here's my VIN plate on my 59. Newer C1s had their VIN plates on the steering column. Yours looks good to me. Enjoy

Your's has a born on date of the 12th and mine is on the 16th.

Just in case it matters to you, that FI unit is a "4900" unit from a '58 Corvette.

It's a better and more reliable unit than any of the '57 model FI units. While it looks very similar to a '57 unit, judges will spot it.

And picking nits now: The cold enrichment/fast idle mechanism is badly misadjusted.

Thank you Jim that’s all really helpful. I did know it was a 58 but this car has been dormant and will definitely need a little loving on.

Absolutely beautiful '57. If your plan is to enjoy driving her, might I suggest you pull the FI unit off and send it to Jim Lockwood and let him do a complete rebuild on it. Other than the purchase of the car, it will be best money spent
