Default Adding Cruise Control to LS3 Engine

My LS3 is drive by wire and I got to believe it should be straight forward to add cruise control. But, I want something that doesn't look too out of place. Any suggestions?

This was the Rostra electronic cruise control that was installed in my ‘64. Because the control module and wiring harness bundle take up a fair amount of space, under dash installation wasn’t feasible.

The control module and wiring bundle were installed in the engine compartment space just below the washer bottle making for a clean hidden installation. A zip lock bag was placed over the components to keep dirt and moisture out.

This does not work with “drive by wire”. Do a search for LS three cruise control add-on. There are several plug and play out there. Dakota digital makes one.

Dakota digital makes one and there are a few options for controls, turn signal, push buttons etc. I'm setting it up on a 68 Camaro LS3 very soon.

I used DD CC in a 1st Gen Camaro LS3 swap. Was pretty much plug and play.

Several years ago I installed a Rostra cruise in the 56. It works so good that you would think it was factory GM.

These two pictures are everything. Looks like a rat's nest, but it is quite a straight forwared installation.

I installed the cruise module above and behind the right kick panel.

This is the speed sensor which is easily installed between the speedo fitting on the transmission and the speedo cable. Too easy!

I used black elec tape on the 2 wires for the speed sensor and routed them along side and through the existing grommet for the starter wiring harness.

I did not like the universal bracket for the throttle cable, so I made one from some stainless sheet.

The black cable is all that shows coming through the firewall and it connects with a little chain to the throttle bell lever on the FI unit.

Several controllers were available. I chose this under dash controller. This is what Jack Fit had on his car when he toured all the states and spent the night with us.

DZAUTO-- that rats nest you used won't work for the OP, he is "fly by wire", no throttle cable/linkage, but the Dakota Digital setup mostly plugs in with a few connections for power, brake lights etc. Much less "stuff too" but only works with fly by wire LS swaps. (See and we can do that with saying AAALLLLLLLL LS Swaps lol)
