Default AC Heater vacuum switch---

Just curious if any guys out there know of someone who can rebuild the the AC heater Vacuum switch located on top of the heater box on 63-7 AC cars ? I have my original ( which I know has worn out it's O-ring) but I've tried before with no luck to dismantle & replace the O ring. I wasted too much time to no avail. I bought the new plastic replacement, but I HATE LIKE HELL using that damn Chinese thing----Just figured I'd ask----Thanks guys.

It can be done but its not easy. Somewhere on here is a post with pics. You will have to search it out. You need a tiny rotary tool to remove the staking to get it apart. Inside is a tiny sleeve not really an o ring. You have to get a very small piece of surgical tubing. The gent who posted how to fix it is a oral surgeon I believe, he used a dental drill. I followed his instructions and it worked. Get out your magnifying glass. Also note that it does not work the way that you might think, It does not pass full vacuum, only a very small amount of suction is applied to the heater valve. If you connect it to a vacuum tester it is easy to think it is not working when it is.

Dave Tracy posted the repair procedure he came up with on 8-17-2019. I don't know how to post the link, but you should have no problem locating.

Its tricky to do. Take your time. I got mine working fine. I found a brand new old stock one on e-bay and replaced my repaired one with the new one. I had the repaired valve working for about 6 months in my car than I gave my repaired one away to a guy who needed one and it is still working. Dave did a fine job. Its all folks like him on the forum that make the hobby fun and interesting.

Appreciate that Armadanddangerous. I fly large scale RC airplanes so the fuel tube aspect is all over the place in my workshop. I never took the original one apart yet so It's intact 100%.
