Default Tachometer cable question

I'm putting a tach cable on the '57, and can't recall how the core cable goes into the housing. Is the thrust button end toward the tach drive unit or on the end next to the tach?
Thanks,
Dennis

On a 62 the non bulb side should be inserted into the cable housing towards the engine compartment. The bulb end is on the dash side which screws into the tach. Believe the 57 is the same.
