The paperwork on my TKX is very specific on getting the bellhousing within .005' on center with the crank. With offset dowel pins I achieved .004'. In the real world is anyone having any problems with TKXs that have not been centered? My son and I are stabbing the TKX tonight and the pilot bearing is pretty tight on the snout of the trans, I've the feeling this may not be easy.
Mine was .004 without offset pins. I called Silver Sport to see if I should try and get closer and they said I was good to go. Hopefully in a couple months I will find if there is any issues.
I installed a TKO 9 years ago. The offset was .003. The bearing failed the next year. I installed a bronze bushing and I have had zero problems. I would never use a bearing again.
It's been a while now, but I seem to remember reading in the paperwork that if it wasn't in spec they wouldn't warranty it? I had to send them the paperwork with proof.
Installed my TKO-600 in 2006. The offset was .004. I used a GM pilot bearing listed for a Diesel engine, (Not the one that came with the TKO kit). So far, it's been great.
