In 64, all StL body colors had AA after the number.. All AOS bodies had A.. Chevrolet was figuring out how Trim Tags would work with two body suppliers.
In 65, all colors had the same number, 900 followed by different two letter code for StL bodies, ie, 900AA for Tuxedo Black.. AOS bodies had only the two letter code without the 900. ie. A-A for Tuxedo Black..
Here is 923AA Riverside Red. And, notice that this StL Convertible has S in the body number, since build date E24 is after the approximate start date of Jan 20, 1964 for AOS bodies. Your StL Convertible has no S in the body number since your build date E3 precedes the introduction of AOS bodies.
