Can the body mounts be replaced on a 65 convertible without taking the body off?
any explanations will help. Thanks.

  • It has been done. The body can be raised about 2-3 inches. The details are listed in one of the "Stickies" Dennis

started doing my 1964 today and will update you with pictures mine is a coupe. First thing i would do is start to expose all your mounting nuts and bolts vacuum any rust if there is any and then spray penetrating oil all over the bolts and nuts-i drilled a small hole on the rear mounts to spray the oil easier. contiune the oil for a couple of days and let it soak in.

It will not be an easy thing to do. You do know all your bumper brackets bolt through the body and onto the frame they would have to be removed. You couldn’t just take one bolt out at a time and change that mount because the body would actually have to be lifted. At that point why not just lift the body up?
