This is my current stable of cars. The BMW is 15 y.o.; the Jag, 30; and the vette, 60. This past year I had to put new alternators in all three. (I upgraded to an alternator in the vette many years ago) The BMW cost $1200 parts and labor; the Jag, $1000; the vette, $69.99 for a rebuilt Delco that I put in myself. Got to love American and old enough that you can actual do the work yourself.
This is my stable. My retirement has been new things like golf but more fun is still the Porsche (highly modified), the Classic Mini (slightly modified) and the Hemi/Vette (not another one like it). I can work on all three and they get driven a lot in the summer, Some people like the pure stock look and only go to shows. I like the smiles, waves and the one day a mom said to her son in the parking lot, "son that's a real Mini".
I'm sure you hit the wrong key on the Vette, '62. Nice collection! Dennis
No---it is a 61. The fins in the coves and the chrome head light bezzels give it away----he also stated that he had the car for 60 years not that it is a '60.

Yup. I bought my 62 as a basket case back in 75. At that time the cove trim was not being repro and NOS were many $100's, So I got repro spears for something like $30. Chrome headlight trim came with the car, but obviously the PO had changed them. The car also had no engine as the PO trashed it when trying (unsuccessfully) to shoehorn a 427 into it. Not NCRS, but still a great ride!

The absence of chrome on the 62 was supposed to make it SLEEK and SMOOTH like a shark. I guess if you look at it that way the lack of chrome works but what you did sets it off nicely.
I AM tempted.

Might you have any suggestions or leads for installing a 1st Gen Hemi, aluminum block motor, in a C1 Corvette?? Thanks much! Scott in SC
